Questions to ask your insurance company before you start therapy

• What are my benefits for in-network and out-of-network outpatient mental health therapy?

• What is my deductible? This is the amount you pay each year before insurance starts paying for a portion of your care.

• What have I paid so far toward my deductible? Your deductible resets each year.

• What is my copay? This is a fixed rate you are responsible for each session, sometimes after your deductible has been met.

• What is my coinsurance? This is a percentage of the allowable amount that you are responsible for, often after your deductible is met.

Out of Network?

Many people are unaware of how their out-of-network benefits work or if they are covered. I am happy to help you figure out if billing out-of-network is a realistic option for you. If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a "superbill" at the end of each month for you to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company. Please keep in mind you will pay the full fee at the time of service and your insurance may not cover my full fee.
